Responsibility:
I agree with Obama that people have not been looking toward the future, only to the next day in their lives. If these people are not able to plan for their future, the economy will be the one sffering instead of such people, as aid will most likely be supplied to them. I do not feel any sympathy really for the people who bought what they couldn't afford, being an adult requires you to make educated decisions, and they ovbioulsy could not handle making intellegent ones. I also am happy that Obama will focus upon education, and energy, seeing as these are two important issues to me. I feel that our education now does not quite prepare us for competing on a global level, and does not instill us with the same work ethics and motivation as those of past generations.
3.5 Million Jobs
the tax credit for college is a very interesting thing to hear, since I am going to be applying to colleges soon, and I know there are many schools I would like to go to that I simply will not be able to afford. I do hope that the small amount extra that we will be able to save from this tax credit will aid in the search for a college.
Saving 3.5 million jobs seems to be an extremely large figure, and one that I am skeptical about. However, similar types of reforms have worked before, as shown in the great depresison era, but it is always good to keep in mind that World War II was really what pulled us out of such a depression.
Economy:
There is no arguing it; our economy is not in a beneficial place at this moment in time. The problems seem to have stemmed from the lack of responsiblilty in people, and also, in my opinion, the fact that most of our work producing goods comes form other countries. Since these othe countries benefit off the production of our goods, our workers are not able to get jobs when they should be, which does not bode well for the amount of money being spent in the nation. If the nation is simply a consumer nation that does not produce many products on a global scale, which is important in the world today, I feel that our economy may stablize, but may not do as well as it is able to. While I do not know much about the economy, I do feel that Obama's plan to increase public works and provide things such as better mass transit and roadways will aid in the restoration of our economy, much as the depression era presidents instated.
